The Cloud Connector for Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint 2010 connects almost any on-premise data source, e.g. ODBC, OLEDB, Microsoft .NET based providers, Files (Excel, XML, CSV), SQL databases like SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, IBM DB2, IBM AS/400, IBM Informix, Notes, SharePoint, Exchange, Active Directory, Navision, SAP and many more directly to native SharePoint lists in the Microsoft Cloud - or any other Microsoft SharePoint 2010 installation - in just minutes without any programming. For any questions please use the FAQ Web Formor contact sales@layer2.de directly.

Office 365 Integration: How to connect on-premise SharePoint to the Microsoft Office 365 cloud?

You can connect lists in your local on-premise SharePoint 2010 in your corporate network to native SharePoint lists in the cloud using the Cloud Connector add-on and the Layer2.SharePoint.Provider installed with the connector. For example you can add an additional column "cloud = Yes/No" to your contacts list in the corporate intranet, create a view ExportToCloud that only displays that contacts, and replicate all this contacts with cloud=Yes to Microsoft Office 365 into a contacts list myContacts.
Please use the following configuration file:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<connection xmlns="http://www.layer2.de/schemas/cloudConnections"
interval="60"
enabled="true"
version="1.2">

<dataEntities>

<dataEntity name="MySharePointSource"
type="source"
provider="Layer2.SharePoint.Provider"
connectionString="Data Source=http://MySharePointServer/Sites/MySharePointSite/; Initial Catalog=MyContacts; User Id=MyUserID; Password=MyPassword;view=ExportToCloud"
>
</dataEntity>
<dataEntity name="MyCloudDestination"
type="destination"
provider="Layer2.SharePoint.Provider"
connectionString="Data Source=http://MyDomain.sharepoint.com/Sites/MyCloudSite/; Initial Catalog=myContacts; User Id=MyID@onmicrosoft.com; Password=MyPassword; Authentication=Office365"
>
</dataEntity>

</dataEntities>

<fieldMappings autoMapping="true">
    <fieldMapping>
      <field entity="MySharePointSource" name="ID"/>
      <field entity="MyCloudDestination" name="SourceID"/>
    </fieldMapping>
</fieldMappings>

</connection>

Please note:
  • Please note the additional column SourceID in the data destination list that will contain the item IDs of the source items for save update. Thsi column should be mapped in the field mappings section.
  • All other columns are automatically mapped with autoMapping enabled.
  • That works for all types of lists, e.g. news or custom lists.
  • In this sample the update interval is 60 min.
  • If your destination url is not xyz.sharepoint.com you have to use the additional "realm" attribute in connection string (see documentation).
