Fig. Customer Pain Points solved by the Layer2 Knowledge Management Suite for SharePoint.
The Layer2 Knowledge Management Suite for SharePoint includes the following components (that can be installed and used separately, if desired):
Taxonomy Manager for SharePoint: This app adds additional Managed Metadata properties (for example, content classification rules) to the SharePoint Term Store. It offers export / backup and import / restore, updates, and deployment of taxonomies on term set level. The Taxonomy Manager supports common knowledge management standards, like the SKOS format, for data exchange with external systems. Enables full taxonomy lifecycle management to develop, enhance, deploy, and maintain SharePoint term sets. Please see the video introduction here.
Tag Suggester for SharePoint: When adding taxonomy-based terms to an item or document using an enterprise metadata field, the Tag Suggester displays a suggestion list based on given Term Store taxonomies, classification rules, item properties, context, and document or item content. Installed IFilters are used for content retrieval. The app greatly increases productivity and precision of user-based content categorization in SharePoint portals. Please see the video introduction here.
Auto Tagger for SharePoint: This app categorizes items and documents automatically in background without any user interaction, based on given SharePoint Term Store taxonomies, classification rules, item properties, and document context and content. The Auto Tagger offers high quality subject classification using a high performance Microsoft .NET Framework-based classification rule engine. The Auto Tagger could be helpful for initial tagging, such as after a content migration from any system to SharePoint, as well as for daily operation. Please see the video introduction here.
Tag Navigation Web Part for SharePoint: This app harvests the value of collaborative tagging and content classification by using the Microsoft SharePoint Managed Metadata taxonomy tree directly for content discovery and navigation. The Web Part offers flexible link building, e.g. link to the tag profile page or directly to a search-driven content result list. Optionally, the app can display additional information, such as tag or term descriptions, or usage counts. Customer specific branding is fully supported by the template-based design. Please see the video introduction here.
Tag Directory Web Part for SharePoint: This app displays the SharePoint managed metadata taxonomy tree as a flat A-Z directory index of categories (glossary) for improved content discovery and navigation. It also provides a common vocabulary for corporate language.
The app offers flexible link building, e.g. link to the Tag Profile page or a search-driven content result list. Optionally additional information, e.g. tag description and usage count can be displayed. Customer specific branding is fully supported by the template-based design. Please see the video introduction here.
Tag Cloud Web Part for SharePoint: Users can navigate the portal content by its importance using this familiar, but now taxonomy-based, tag cloud Web Part. The app offers flexible link building, e.g. link to the Tag Profile page or to a search-driven content result list. Optionally, additional information, such as tag descriptions and usage counts can be displayed. Customer-specific branding is fully supported by the template-based design.
Related Content Web Part for SharePoint: As a SharePoint next generation search-driven application, this Web Part automatically displays related content in a given context or content that is tagged with any specific terms using Managed Metadata taxonomies. The "Related Content" feature is well known from the internet (like Amazon.com), and is now available for SharePoint portals as well with this app. This app offers flexible settings and output formatting to support customer-specific branding. Please see the video introduction.
You may also include any external data source into the SharePoint Knowledge Management and Social Networking features without any restrictions using the Business Data List Connector for SharePoint.
The Knowledge Management Suite was developed 100% based on the Microsoft SharePoint 2010 / 2013 / 2016 Server Enterprise Metadata Management API and was certified as "Microsoft Platform Ready for SharePoint".
