As a result context dependent contact information, related products, further news, links and downloads can be better found by users and visitors. With the Related Content Web Part for SharePoint 2010 out-of-the-box dynamic web sites like product- and services catalogues, information sites etc. and can be built:

With the complete FREE shareware version you can download and use a feature-limited solution. To buy a license for this product, please click the shopping card symbols on this page.

The product is licensed on a per server base (one time fee). No additional clients licenses (CALs) are required. If you have several servers (e.g. in a farm scenario) all servers have to be licensed. You need a license for every web frontend server. For background operation (Auto Tagger) application servers have to be licensensed. Infrastructure server, e.g. for indexing or search don't need a license. You can optionally buy Software Assurance (SA) for free updates / upgrades to protect your investment.

Installation & Setup

Please enter the product folder in the distribution zip-file, run the installer (*.exe) and install or upgrade the product following the steps. Use the "Run as Admin" option of the context menu (right click).  After sucessfull installation please activate this feature on site collection level as a site collection administrator.

The web part has the following settings:

  • Tag Types to Search
    Generally the web part can make use of social tags, terms (centrally managed in the term store) or both. Please select, which way to go.
  • Search Provider
    The web part uses SharePoint search to find related content. You can specifiy any certain provider or leave blank for default.
  • Search Scope
    The web part searches related content with defined scope, e.g. people only to display contact persons or specific documents for related documentation. Please select from the list of previously defined search scopes.
  • Terms
    To display related content dynamically, please leave this blank. In this case the tags of the parent item (e.g. item in detail view, page etc.) is used to retrieve the tags or terms for the content to display.
    Alternatively you can select one or more defined terms from a given term set to display content, that is related to this selected terms.
    Additionally you can combine your own selected tags with the tags that are set at the parent page. This gives you even more flexibility to display related content of a given category.
  • Matching Options
    In case several terms are selected you have to select matching options to combine the terms, e.g. AND / OR.
  • Max Item Count
    To display only a defined number of related content items, please enter maximal item count to display here.
  • Item Order
    You can specifiy an defined order to display the items, e.g. by search result relevance, alphabetically by title or by creation date desc (to display the most current content).
  • XSLT settings
    To completely adapt the output to your web site style enter XSLT formatting code here optionally.
